Welding can be used for decorative purposes too. It has become popular worldwide and is known as the Art of the Welding. There are various types of welding and all the methods have different uses and therefore the quality and type of welding work depends on the type of welding that is used. This welding process is very useful when joining two metals which have different properties such as soft and stiff. The flexibility and strength of a metal are determined during the welding process and depending on the type of metal and the quality of the metal, the welding is performed. The different types of welding that are used in industry and also in the residential sector include the fusion welding, arc welding, stick welding, gas tungsten arc welding, MIG welding and TIG welding.

The gas tungsten-arc welding processes use an electrode that has a filament made of tungsten and an arc is created between the filler rod and the part being welded. The TIG welding process is also known as the tri-band welding process and the tungsten electrodes are actually the arch or tubular metal parts. The electrode has an arch or tubular electrode design that produces an electric current.
The MIG welding is also used and is very common in automobiles. In this process the electrode is made of inert gas and the filler rod is connected to a wire that has a small piece of tungsten. The gas that is used in this type of welding is argon or carbon dioxide. The MIG welding produces a very strong weld and is capable of welding aluminum and stainless steel.

Another type of welding is gas metal arc welding. This is a very popular procedure that is widely used in the residential sector as well as in the large corporations. In this process the electrode is made of tungsten and the arc is created between the part to be welded and the welding machine. This process is very effective but requires a lot of skill in the beginning welders because this technique is difficult to control and does not have a consistent arc. This is why it is used by many beginning welders.
There are a variety of other processes that can be used but they are more of a part of a system. The other processes that are commonly used are metal inert gas welding, gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding and the shielded gas metal arc welding. The choice between all these different welding processes is determined by the industry or the type of job that needs to be done. These processes are also used for various stages of automobile manufacturing and the building process.
